STCW Medical Care Onboard Ship Refresher Course Overview

This training bring a number of changes and one of the most significant are the STCW revalidation requirements. The STCW Medical Care Onboard Ship Refresher is an intensive course which allows those who have completed their Medical Care Onboard Ship training within the last 5 years, to update their skills and knowledge.

Course Content:

This course is designed for seafarers who are designated to take charge of medical care on board ship. It equips you with a sufficient level of knowledge to be able to take immediate effective action in the case of accidents or illnesses likely to occur.

  • - Aspects of nursing
  • - Diseases
  • - Alcohol and drug abuse
  • - Dental care
  • - Gynecology, pregnancy and childbirth
  • - Medical care of rescued persons
  • - Death at sea
  • - Disease prevention
  • - Record keeping

Entry Requirements:

Candidates must be at least 16 Years or above. Hold a Proficiency in Medical First Aid On Board certificate, or a Proficiency in Medical Care On Board certificate or its update.

Certification on completion

Upon successful completion of the course all candidates will be issued with an STCW Medical Care on Board Certificate.
