HIS THOUGHTS

Our experience in preparing trainees for emergency situations on and offshore is astounding. We ensure working safely becomes a real pleasure for all employees throughout Africa.

HIS VISION

My passion for Health and Safety was derived from my childhood experiences. As a child, I witness how people who were not born lame became lame, others who could hear and see became deaf and blind as a result of work related accidents. Many of these victims lost their jobs while fighting to serve the nation. These motivated me to start thinking how work related accidents within the local community I was growing up in could be eliminated. That is how my vision for safety was born. I grew up with this vision and it has become clearer as I have grown. Today, my vision is to make Africa as safe as Europe and the United State of America and also to make the continent a place where everyone will go to work, carry out his/her activities and go back home safely to celebrate life with their families.

DRIVING FORCE

Contrary to popular opinion which holds that people practice workplace safety because they are afraid of legal and regulatory sanctions; or are just constricted to adhere to safety principles because of its associated profits, I want to see and continue seeing people safe in their work places. Work place safety is very important for each and every employee in the industry because all workers desire to work in a safe and protected atmosphere. Health and safety is the key factor for all industries in order to promote the wellness of both employees and employers. That is my driving force and Passion for safety.  It's a simple moral stance. Nobody should get hurt working or doing business for NOIAA or any other company in Africa.

DAILY CHALLENGES

As a safety man and the head of NOIAA, a company with roots in the USA, The biggest challenge I face in my job is creating the right environment to grow a strong and dynamic team. I understand that without a professional and dynamic team, I will not be able to propel industrial health, safety and environment in Africa to the level as practiced in Europe and the USA. I do not just seek to emulate the examples of Europe and the USA, but to conceive, develop, and put in place policies, regulations and standards adapted to Africa, standards that will be accepted all over the continent and deliver the job of reducing ill health, injury unsafe practices and dangerous exposures at the workplace.

HIS VIEW FOR THE FUTURE

I am highly excited with the rate of advancement regarding occupational Health and Safety in Africa. It is true that much still needs to be done but the little advancement should be appreciated, when I began in the continent, I succeeded to assemble a team of professionals and together, we have vulgarized industrial safety through training and extensive communication; created and instilled a safe work culture among workers on offshore / onshore oil and gas installations in and reduced accidents to a considerable level. We overcame these challenges because we invested heavily on our personnel through training and motivation so as to build their morale. This permitted us to build a large portfolio of training courses, an ever-growing database of clients and, an unending rope of international awards in the fields of quality, health safety and environment. These coupled with our vast investment projects in the continent, is giving us the certainty that we shall over our challenges and set new goals for the future.
