The GWO Basic Safety Training Refresher (BSTR) Package – Offshore Focus – has been developed to encompass the five main refresher training modules required for working within the renewables sector, BOTH on an onshore and offshore capacity.
The aim of this Basic Safety Training (BST) Working at Height course is to qualify the participants, through theoretical and practical training, to use basic personal protective equipment and perform safe work at heights and safe and comprehensive basic rescue from heights in a remote wind turbine environment within the GWO Renewables sector.
Note: This course is not designed to test the participant’s capability and aptitude for working at height, i.e. it is not a test for fear of heights.
The aim of the GWO Manual Handling Training module is to encourage positive manual handling behaviour and train delegates to perform manual handling tasks in a safe manner in the wind turbine industry/environment.
The aim of the GWO Fire Awareness Safety Training element is to give the delegates the basic knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training to prevent fires, conduct initial and appropriate judgement when evaluating a fire, manage evacuation of personnel to ensure all are safely evacuated and accounted for in the event of an unmanageable fire and, if it is judged to be safe, to efficiently extinguish an initial fire by using basic handheld firefighting equipment.
The aim of the GWO First Aid Training element is to administer safe and effective first aid in the wind turbine industry/ WTG environment, through theoretical and practical training.
Prerequisite required to undertake course – current GWO Sea Survival / Working at Height / Fire Awareness / First Aid / Manual Handling certificates.
All delegates are issued with GWO approved Sea Survival / Working at Height / Fire Awareness / First Aid / Manual Handling Refresher certificates.
