GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) Package – Offshore

GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) Package – Offshore Course Overview

The GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) Package – Offshore Focus – has been developed to encompass the five main training modules required for working within the renewables sector from BOTH an offshore and onshore perspective.
This is an entry level package for those about to begin work in the onshore or offshore wind turbine sector, or who require to re-sit these elements having let them lapse for more than a two year period.

Course content:

This GWO approved course (Global Wind Organisation – the Renewables Industry standard), contains the following five elements:

GWO Sea Survival Training

The aim of the GWO Sea Survival Training element is, by theoretical and practical training to give the participants the basic knowledge and skills to act safely and take the correct preventive actions in all aspects of offshore operations from shore to installation vessel or WTG (Wind Turbine Generator) and vice versa, both during normal operation and in an emergency in an offshore wind energy environment.

GWO Working at Height Training

The aim of this Basic Safety Training (BST) Working at Height course is to qualify the participants, through theoretical and practical training, to use basic personal protective equipment and perform safe work at heights and safe and comprehensive basic rescue from heights in a remote wind turbine environment within the GWO Renewables sector.

Note: This course is not designed to test the participant’s capability and aptitude for working at height, i.e. it is not a test for fear of heights.

GWO Manual Handling Training

The aim of the GWO Manual Handling Training module is to encourage positive manual handling behaviour and train delegates to perform manual handling tasks in a safe manner in the wind turbine industry/environment.

GWO Fire Awareness Training

The aim of the GWO Fire Awareness Training element is to give the delegates the basic knowledge and skills through theoretical and practical training to prevent fires, conduct initial and appropriate judgement when evaluating a fire, manage evacuation of personnel to ensure all are safely evacuated and accounted for in the event of an unmanageable fire and, if it is judged to be safe, to efficiently extinguish an initial fire by using basic handheld firefighting equipment.

GWO Basic First Aid Training

The aim of the GWO First Aid Training element is to administer safe and effective first aid in the wind turbine industry/ WTG environment, through theoretical and practical training.

Entry Requirements for this Training:

Candidates must be fit and able to complete all aspects of training.

Certification

All successful delegates are issued with a GWO Approved Sea Survival / Working at Height / Manual Handling / Fire Awareness / First Aid certificates.
